What is Camp Good News?

CEF operates full summer and winter programs of camping in East Livermore. Circle L graciously gave us this campground in 1991. Now, more than 900 children are taught the Word of God each year. Volunteer staff from all over Maine and other states assists the full-time staff to make a spiritually profitable, exciting, and safe time at camp for children. In the summer, we have six weeks for children ages 8-13 and one week for teens ages 14-17. In the winter, we have four weekends for children and one weekend for teens.

1970

Camp Good News® was born in the heart of State Director Edna Sawyer Welbourn, and we had our first week at Baptist Youth Camp in Charlotte, Maine.

1991

John Romano was asked to direct Circle L Camp in East Livermore for a six-week period, and the board of Circle L Camp voted to give their campground to CEF® of Maine.

1999

Under the visionary direction of John Romano, a new building for the state offices of CEF and camp dining hall was completed.

2000

A nearby 34-acre farm was purchased to make it possible for a more extensive ministry at Camp Good News.

2003

Property with housing was purchased which joined all of Camp Good News together, extending to the farmhouse property where our winterized log cabins are located.
